Meet Chloe, the main heroine of The Truth About Diamonds. Although Nicole Richie is actually telling the story in first-person narrative, the book is about Chloe. At the beginning of the novel, Chloe is not yet famous, except for the fact that she has grown up in a privileged family, is addicted to drugs (namely Xanax and some uppers), and hangs out in clubs regularly. She is one of those people that everyone is drawn to. She has style, but has a bad habit of hanging out with guys who are bad for her. One day she is approached by Simone Westlake, a gorgeous socialite who is famous for being famous. Simone, who is clearly portrayed as Paris Hilton, is vicious, stuck-up and manipulative. She quickly sucks Chloe into her inner circle and arranges for her and Chloe to do a reality commercial series which portray them as best friends and spokesmodels for a cosmetic line. (more…)

Review: Falling Out of Fashion by Karen Yampolsky

Falling Out of Fashion by Karen Yampolsky was simply one of the best [adult] chick lit novels I have read in quite some time. It is a working-girl chick lit novel, but also falls into the glamour lit category quite easily. The plot revolves around Jill White, a woman who has a magazine named after her. She manages to make a very strong and passionate name for herself, although the ride along the way was a little bumpy.
